The Painting Table - 15mm Italians

The arrival of my perry 28mm does not mean I have been distracted from the 15mm on my painting table.

The Italians are almost completed, representing anything from Italian Immigrants market gardeners, through Nationalist to Fascists. Mussolini has been nice enough to provide Bersaglieri uniforms and equipment in sizable quantities to the Italian Immigrant community.

In 1933 Italy was at its economic and military (colonial) height. Mussolini's Fascist government was a model that many wanted replicate. While many didn't want fascism, many right wing groups existed in 1933. The main (militarised) group was the NEW FRONT. The upper echelons were definitely Fascist even Nazi in their views. The bulk were more moderate. Primarily based in NSW the New Front was National and at its height count 100k active members. This had dwindled by 1933 but was still sizable. The distrust of communism also drove many to join right wing factions.

Pictures coming soon.

Perry Figures Arrived

Yeah!!!

My Perry Order has just arrived. Three boxes of 8th Army, with two boxes of Australian /Chindit Heads and a box of ACW Confederate Heads in slouch hats.

I figure that this will give me everything I need to convert my figures into various factions. A scalpel and some green stuff and the necessary variety will appear to represent essentially civilian forces operating in what is usually hot and/or muggy conditions.

I also got 4 boxes (24 Figs total) from their Mafeking range. These are Boer War civilians with British SMLEs so they will fit in perfectly, and provides those things like a man in a suit with a SMLE. I also expect to use some of the Perry ACW Confederates for civilians in trousers, shirt and possibly a hat. A bit of conversion work, but I need the practice.

Working on ARBM, sort of.

I have been working on a few things for ARBM.

Namely a website for information, sales and a forum. Also a publishing name.

The former is easy, just add money. The latter implies a Business Name, which means that it must be intended to make a profit, but is more than a hobby business. This gets tricky, do I want to be that formal?

Questions, questions.

Can I publish under a name other than my own without going through all this grief?

More research of a type I am not really interested in.

Welcome to "A Right Bloody Mess"

Welcome to my Blog focused on "A Right Bloody Mess", the Australian Civil War 1933-39.

"A Right Bloody Mess" (ARBM) is an alternate history of Australia in the 1930s. It deviates from history in 1933 when Western Australia votes to secede from the Commonwealth of Australia. Rather than wait for the blessing of the Federal Government it immediately declares independence. Victoria who are aware of WAs intentions use this disruption to also declare independence.

The actions of the states, and the major and minor factions, fuelled by a 30% unemployment rate, creates an environment of  uncertainty and violence. Against the backdrop of the Great Depression Australia decends into what can only be described as civil war.

While I am the creator and publisher of this exciting new wargaming Setting, it is the community that determines the course of events. Indeed many different paths will no don't be explored.

The intention is to provide a setting that is Rules and Scale agnostic. Players can use whatever figures in whatever scale prefer. Actions from skirmishes to major set piece battles are catered for. If you prefer there are a lot of wonderfule RPG lite rulesets that could be used.

This Blog is really my personal journey into ARBM.  I am not a great painter or scenery maker but I hope you will find some inspiration for your own games.
